Millennials, marketing and social business evangelism.

These are a few of the things I learned about this week. I want to share a couple of great posts. One is by Heidi Cohen on her “Actionable Marketing Guide” site.  The other is by Pam Moore, CEO & founder of Marketing Nutz. She has a great blog.

Millennials are obsessed with the smartphones. They touch them “45 times per day on average,” Heidi writes in a great new post.

OK, but tell me something I didn’t know. That’s exactly what Heidi goes on to do in “5 Easy Ways To Market To Millennials [Research]

Smartphones dominate, but 37% of millennials use four devices per day, she tells us. This leads to her “Actionable Millennial Marketing Tip” of: “Provide consistent cross platform communications to reach millennials.”

Check out her great post “5 Easy Ways To Market To Millennials [Research]”   for more insight about those 18- to 36-year-olds who can be tough to reach with old-style marketing.

I ended the workweek with a conversation with a colleague about some of the challenges we are encountering as we attempt to persuade our peers to add new communications techniques to their PR toolkits.

Calling another meeting to encourage everybody to try new approaches isn’t likely to work. “If you do this, your program is destined to fail,” Pam writes in a great new post, “Want Social Business Buy-in? Do More Than Move Their Cheese!

Yikes. Too true, too true.

Pam provides helpful perspective and great tips that I definitely will use.

“You must inspire, educate and empower,” she writes. “You must ignite a movement that is bigger than you.”

These are a couple of things I learned this week.  What did your read lately that made you smarter or left you inspired?
